Dr. Marisa B.

I truly contribute so much of my process to the fact that I have been regularly adjusted for years. My body was more prepared to handle this unfortunate situation because of the care I consistently get.

Dr. Marisa’s personal surgical recovery in her own words:

I actually come to you as Marisa, not as Dr. M, but as patient M. I've recently gone through an Achilles tear and surgery, and I wanted to talk about my process. I'm about four days out and people ask, "why are you at the office? You should be at home resting and recovering." Well, that's because I'm still coming here and getting adjusted.

We talk to a lot of people that go through surgeries or other hard medical situations. I truly contribute so much of my healing process to the fact that I have been regularly adjusted for years and continue to be adjusted through this process.

My swelling has been really manageable. My bruising has been really minimal. My ability to be strong in my one leg and to be able to support myself with both arms on the crutches and be able to stand up and not have to push off of every single object is a testament to the fact that I have been able to exercise and participate in fitness for years because my body has felt good enough to do that.

The fact that I have been healthy and I haven't been sick very often, and I fuel my body with good foods and I get my regular adjustments and I sleep - all contribute to a body that was more prepared to handle this unfortunate situation as it came up.

For anyone that's just going through something - sometimes we can think in the moment that it only matters what we're dealing with right now. But I don't deal with symptoms on a regular basis, but I still get adjusted and I still value my adjustments so much because of what it sets my body up to handle in the unknown future. I know because of the care that I value and the care that I consistently get, that my body is better prepared to handle what comes because of the way that I've cared for it and have invested in setting it up for success.“
